This past winter, I attended an energy effciency webinar provided by the Interfaith Energy Efficiency program in Hartford, CT. The webinar focused on increasing energy efficiency in houses of worship and the financial incentives available to cover the costs.
In sharing the information with our church council, the members decided that an energy efficiency audit would benefit the church in saving energy, costs and decrease our carbon footprint in the environment.
Since that decision, we have had the pleasure of working with Bob Babcock from CT Energy Solutions LLC whom I met through the webinar. Bob has been the liaison for Our Savior Lutheran Church in Thomaston CT, the church of which I am a member.
Bob has a vast knowledge in the area of energy efficiency and experience with the Interfaith Energy Efficiency program. The energy efficiency teams he contacted for the audit were top notch and were well experienced with old and new houses of worship buildings. With Bob as liaison and the work of these professional teams, our church energy efficiency audit ran smoothly. Church members, who worked with these teams, were impressed with their expertise.
Even after the audit, Bob continues to work with the church council and attended our meetings to ensure that we had an understanding of the energy efficiency reports provided by the audit teams and also the financial incentives to cover the costs. Through Bob's guidance we recently received a financial incentive to replace our incandescent lighting with LED lighting throughout our church building both indoors and outdoors. It has made such a difference providing us better lighting and decreasing our monthly light bill. Not to forget the heat that incandescent lighting emits.
Through his company, CT Energy Solutions, Bob is now offering that our church members consider an energy efficiency audit for their private homes. The cost for the audit in $75.00. For every church member who signs up for the energy efficiency audit, Bob has offered to return the $75.00 as a donation to the church. This is certainly a win-win! We are looking forward to helping our church members lower energy costs and use less energy in their homes and in the long run care for the environment.

The new lighting has provided a tremendous improvement to our daycare. The brighter lighting has helped our teachers and students see better.
